Emily was a gymnast for 12 years, and has always been involved in fitness, and the importance of it in ones life.  In 1998 she moved to LA where she began to practice Pilates.  Emily was absolutely amazed at what Pilates did for her body; her compact body (that of a gymnast) began to elongate which gave her a leaner looking physique. Even her friends were amazed.  More importantly Emily noticed that what she was learning in Pilates ( six key principles ) began to spill over into her life.  Practicing Pialtes not only helped her physically but also helped her life become more positive.  Emily decided she wanted to share this wonderful gift and become a Pilates instructor.

Emily enrolled in the New York Method Pilates Teacher Training in New York City.  She trained with with Romana Kryzanowska (student of Joseph Pilates), and her daughter Sari.  She also studied with master teachers Zoe hagler, and Lara Serventi in Pasadena California.   It was an honor for Emily to work with such Pilates royalty.

In 2001 Emily moved back to Minnesota where she grew up.  After the birth of her second child she set out to open her own Pilates studio.   In 2005 Emily opened Bodies by Pilates in Minneapolis.  She ran a successful studio for 4 years meeting many great people along the way.  One of these people happened to be Adrienne Fitzmaurice.  Emily had done a refresher course through Adrienne’s studio Align Pilates.  Adrienne and Emily continued their relationship for about 2 years.  Both impressed with eachother’s teaching abilities, and as business owners, they decided to merge their studio’s into one.  September of 2009 Bodies by Pilates officially became Align Pilates.

Emily has been nothing but amazed at what has transpired since then.  It is a joy for Emily to work with people, doing what she loves, and now teaching trainees has become a new joy for her as well.  Emily is committed to providing the very best to her staff, clients, and business partner Adrienne. She looks forward to a bright future.
